Case Study:
The Ashes Playing Field Trust
- Installation Date: December 2020
- Project Type: Daily Mile Pathway
Project Brief
The Ashes Playing Field Trust in Howden were keen to ensure all year round use of the playing fields for people to walk, jog or run around in all weathers. Some areas of the field were extremely boggy during the winter months, making it difficult to use.
Project Outcome
Team Sport & Play designed and installed a green sports carpet pathway with a stone sub base to allow all year round use. Flexible stone/rubber mix pathways were also installed at certain access points around the field so wheelchair and mobility scooter users and pushchairs could all easily access the route.
The track was designed to enable all age groups and abilities to develop an active lifestyle, whatever the weather, set in the beautiful surroundings of the The Ashes Playing Field,
The project was split into two phases and in total took around 6 weeks to complete, during which time some of the hottest and wettest weather conditions were experienced!
Team Sport & Play also designed a sign detailing different routes which could be taken depending on how far an individual might want to run, walk or jog.
“The Ashes Playing Field Trust are delighted at the use and popularity of the all-weather artificial track Team Sport & Play have installed around the circumference of the playing field.”
